Experimental Performance Analysis of Hardware-Based Link Quality Estimation Modelling Applied to Smart Grid Communications

The smart grid is the modern electricity grid, which significantly improves efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of transmission systems. advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system, essential system in enables real-time data collection analysis obtained from meters (SMs) other devices through last-mile communication networks. In this paper, hardware-based link quality estimation (LQE) was modeled, namely an SNR-based model, a mapping RSSI- PRR-based logistic regression their performance then evaluated by root mean-squared error (RMSE) with empirical data. models were formulated packet probability, whereas model fitting. outperformed two models, RMSE difference 111–122%. These LQE can be implemented on SMs or modems to monitor reliability efficiency AMI network.
